Due to daylight constraints during the winter months, we are moving to a weekend-only PGA Jr. League format.
Our goal is to continue providing quality on-course competitive opportunities without having to rush through practices or matches as the sun goes down.

Our Sunday matches at California Oaks will be the foundation of the winter program.

We will continue adding away matches on weekends as golf courses become available.
Our fall program has included some fantastic opportunities to compete at different courses throughout the area, and we want to continue offering those experiences to our players.
Additional away matches will be announced by email as they are confirmed. These opportunities will depend on course availability.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2027 – PGA JR. LEAGUE ALL-STAR TEAM!
We are extremely excited about what is ahead for Murrieta Valley Junior Golf in 2027!
Next year, we plan to put together a strong, competitive PGA Jr. League All-Star Team that will represent our program throughout Southern California!
Our goal is to build a solid group of dedicated junior golfers who are ready to take their game to the next level and compete against some of the best junior teams in the region.
We anticipate traveling to several locations for competitive matches and events, including:
- San Diego
- Bakersfield
- Los Angeles
- Other Southern California locations as opportunities become available
This will be an excellent opportunity for our players to gain valuable tournament experience, compete on different golf courses, develop as teammates, and represent Murrieta Valley Junior Golf.
We have some very talented junior golfers in our program, and the improvement we have seen throughout 2026 has been outstanding.
Our goal for 2027 is to have a well-prepared, competitive All-Star Team that can compete at a high level throughout the region.
We will be looking for players who demonstrate commitment, sportsmanship, teamwork, consistent improvement, and a strong desire to compete.
Participation in our regular PGA Jr. League sessions is a great way for players to continue developing their skills and prepare for future All-Star opportunities.
More information regarding All-Star team selection, competitive opportunities, and travel schedules will be announced as we get closer to the 2027 season.

WHY CONTINUE PLAYING THROUGH THE WINTER?
One of the biggest keys to improving in golf is consistently getting out on the course.
PGA Jr. League gives our players an opportunity to continue developing their skills in a competitive but supportive environment.
Throughout the season, our juniors will continue working on course management, teamwork, scoring, strategy, golf etiquette, and learning how to compete under different conditions.
We have seen tremendous improvement from our returning players, and the winter session is a great opportunity to build on that momentum.

Our program is designed to help junior golfers gain confidence, improve their skills, build friendships, and become more comfortable competing on the golf course.
Players do not need extensive tournament experience to participate.

8/3/26 - We're excited to announce that over the coming months, Murrieta Valley Junior Golf will be expanding our player development opportunities with several new winter programs designed to help juniors continue improving year-round.
These programs will include:
- High School Development Teams focused on preparing players for high school competition, tournaments, and college recruiting.
- Indoor TrackMan Performance Training featuring advanced swing analysis, combine testing, ball-flight data, distance gapping, and personalized improvement plans.
- Tournament Preparation Programs to help players develop course management, mental performance, practice routines, and competitive scoring skills.
- College Development Resources aimed at helping aspiring players build the foundation needed to pursue scholarships, grants, and opportunities to play collegiate golf.
Our goal is to provide a complete player development pathway—from beginners learning the game to competitive juniors striving to play at the highest levels. We are committed to giving our students access to the coaching, technology, and competitive environment needed to maximize their potential.

6/27/26 - We also have exclusive access to GolfInTeam in Temecula for teaching and player development. Lessons can be conducted by any of our instructors in a comfortable indoor environment. During the summer months, many families prefer indoor lessons to avoid the heat while still receiving high-quality instruction.
The facility features TrackMan 4 technology, allowing players to receive precise swing and ball-flight data, practice on virtual driving ranges, and even play many of the world's most famous golf courses.
In addition, we offer professional club fitting services and have access to wholesale pricing on TaylorMade equipment, helping ensure players are properly fit with clubs that match their swing as they continue to improve.

1/26/26 - Congratulations to Coach Ryan Kolk, PGA for Winning the SCPGA IE Match Play Championship. The finals were held at Bear Creek on 1/26/26. With this win, Kolk wins exemptions into Asher Tour events.

*PROPOSED SCHEDULE SUBJECT TO CHANGE*
PRACTICES
• Each player attends ONE team practice per week based on their assigned team.
• Practices are held at Murrieta Valley Golf Range. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring a small bucket of range balls purchased from the golf shop.
• High School Prep Team players will participate in a double-practice format. The group will be split into smaller training groups during practice to allow for more individualized instruction and on-course development.
• For many of our older and more experienced players, the goal is to eventually move into our High School Prep Program. This group focuses on preparing players for high school competition and beyond through additional coaching, increased on-course training, tournament preparation, and a more competitive practice environment.
• For example: Johnny is assigned team 2. He will practice tuesday at 6pm.
• For example: Tristan is assigned team 4. He will practice thursday at 6pm.
MATCHES
• All players are eligible to participate in our Friday home matches throughout the season.
• Match details, tee times, and updates will be emailed throughout the season.
• In addition to our Friday home matches, we will also schedule away matches throughout the season. Away matches are optional and generally more competitive than our home matches.
• Unlike our Friday home matches, away matches are not played in a scramble format. Players are expected to play more independently and are often paired with players from other programs.
• For beginner and first-year players, we strongly recommend participating in a few home matches before signing up for away matches. This allows players to become comfortable with competition, course etiquette, pace of play, and match play before moving into a more competitive environment.
FEES & CARTS
• All green fees for both home and away matches are included in your PGA Jr. League registration fee.
• If we schedule a match at Journey at Pechanga, there may be an additional $25 per player fee due to the premium cost of the facility. Families will be notified in advance if this applies.
• Cart fees are not included and are completely optional. Players are not required to ride in a cart during matches.
• At most facilities, carts are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents are always welcome to walk the course with their child or rent a cart if available.
• Practices are held at Murrieta Valley Golf Range. Please arrive 10 minutes early. Range balls are not included with PGA Jr. League registration. Players will need to purchase a small bucket of balls for each practice session.
PARENTS & SPECTATORS
• We encourage parents to attend matches whenever possible. PGA Jr. League is a great spectator sport and one of the best ways for players to build confidence and enjoy the team atmosphere.

Our Instructors
Ryan Kolk, PGA
Ryan Kolk is a PGA Golf Professional teaching out of Murrieta Golf Range. A Murrieta local, Ryan grew up learning the game at Murrieta Golf Range. He attended Murrieta Valley High School where he was an active player on the school golf team. From there, he played college golf at Mount San Jacinto and Cal State San Marcos. Ryan holds a PGA Class A card/certification, is married to Alicia Kolk, and has two sons.
Ryan has over 30+ years experience teaching and playing competitive golf. He has won over 20 Professional Tournaments, and enjoys the competitive edge of the game. Although he teaches all levels of golfer, his specialty is teaching competitive junior golfers. In the past, he held golf positions such as Head Professional, General Manager, and Director of Instruction. He owns and operates Murrieta Valley Junior Golf, as well as the Valley Junior Golf Association tournaments. Ryan is the PGA JR. League coach for the Murrieta area and consistently has the biggest and best PGA JR. League Programs.
Ryan has recently taken the position of Junior Golf Committee Chair with the SCPGA Inland Empire Chapter as well.
